Upholstered Furniture
Construction Requirements
All frames to be hardwood, double-dowelled, corner blocked,
screwed and glued so that joints have a tight fit. Corner
blocks are especially important in the seat as they give
support to the legs.
Webbing, springing and cushioning must be top contract
quality.
All movable furniture to have glides (nylon glides preferred).
Casters are recommended for movable furniture.
Where specified, foam rubber for upholstery should be
dense quality (firm); polyurethane filling is also acceptable.
All upholstered furniture filling must meet local fire
codes or Sheraton Fire Safety Guidelines, whichever is more
stringent.
Upholstery Fabric
Contract quality fabric upholstery will be used for all
seating.
Fabrics should be selected with property locations in
mind.
Tightly woven materials are recommended because of their
durability and strength.
Loosely woven fabrics should have a good back coating
(latex or similar) for durability.
Must be pre-shrunk (shrinkage factor to be less than 2%).
"Scotchguard" brand stain repeller treatment
or equal is required for fabric upholstery.
All upholstery fabrics must be flame retarded.
2% extra yardage is to be supplied of all fabrics.
All samples submitted for approval must be accompanied
by detailed specifications. |
