Create an area that is an inviting
introduction to the Fitness Center

Entrance and
Foyer: As a minimum, identify and announce
the Fitness Center location with an entrance portal.
• Identify the entrance with a combination of
signage, lighting and a pair of glass doors. Provide
with a direct view to the Reception Desk when present
.• Entrance door shall be controlled with electronic
remote access reader compatible with guestroom lock
to permit controlled access of guests.
• Plan circulation to avoid service traffic
through the Reception area.
• Extend public area quality finishes into reception. |

Reception: Provide when
required by Facilities Program.
Waiting area with seating for approximately four guests.
Floors: Wood or stone with area rug accent
Walls: A combination of wood paneling, stone or upholstered
fabric accented w ith themed, framed art and decorative
sconce lights.
Ceilings: Smooth finish with coffers, domes, recessed
lights, chandeliers, and natural daylight from skylights
(if possible). Integra into ceiling system |
Reception Desk: Position reception
desk to provide direct accommodation of arriving surveillance
of the exercise areas.
Reception Desk: The focal point of the Reception area.
The generous desk should comfortably accommodate two
attendants,
Finishes: A combination of millwork and stone with
granite counter to accommodate standing guests and
work surfaces for seated and standing attendants.

Retail: Provide when required
by Facilities Program. The Fitness Center Reception
area may serve as the entry or circulation path to related
health and beauty retail such as hair styling, facial,
barber or nail care. • Facilities which use
chemicals with a strong odor must have a self-contained
ventilation system that prevents odors or chemicals
from migrating to the Fitness Center, food and beverage,
or other hotel areas. • Design Criteria: Retail
areas must comply with the approval process and retail
design criteria in Retail Module |
Service Closet: Provide
a closet containing a floor sink and shelves for cleaning
products and equipment to clean the common areas and
adjoining corridors.
. Office: Include a management office for back-of-house
activities.
. Storage Room: • Provide a secure room for
storage of equipment, supplies, and retail product.
• Provide a separate area for storage of clean
towels and for storage of soiled towels. •
Where possible, provide service entry direct to storage
and laundry storage to avoid traffic through public
areas |
