Public Toilet Rooms

Provide toilet facilities with janitor’s closet to serve
guests and visitors at three primary areas:
• Food & Beverage facilities
• Function Space
• Lobby circulation

Location: Base quantity and location of toilet facilities on the
following criteria:
• Provide separate facilities for male and female.
• Provide at least one public toilet (male and female) at
each public area level.
• Do not exceed 40 m (130 ft.) travel distance to a public toilet.

Size/Area: Accommodate calculated toilet fixture quantities and adjust quantities, if necessary, to meet region requirements and governing regulations.

Fixture Quantities: At a minimum, provide fixtures based on compliance with governing building codes and sanitation regulations.
• Function Space: 1 toilet fixture for every 93 m2 (1,000 sq. ft.), divide equally between male and female toilet rooms.
• Lobby: 2 toilet fixtures for male and female, minimum.
• Food & Beverage: 1 toilet fixture for male and 1 for female for every 40 seats.

Space Planning:
• Locate Public Toilet to serve primarily the Food & Beverage facilities and secondarily the Lobby.
• Generally, a separate toilet facility is required to serve the Function areas.
• Some floor plans may require two separate toilet rooms if distance between areas is too great or if areas are located on separate levels.
• Entrances for male and female rooms should be distinct and separate.
• Include baffled entries, with minimum 0.91 m (3 ft.) wide doors.
• At female toilet room, include a powder room/space immediately inside entrance with lounge seating, vanity and framed mirrors, sconces, wallcovering, artwork and full length mirror.
• Provide a central Janitor Closet with shelf and service sink.
• Provide an electric drinking water cooler.

Features:
• Lavatory: Continuous granite vanity with undercounter mounted bowls.
• Mirrors: Decorative wall mirrors for each vanity;< provide wall sconces.
• Accessories: Provide residential style (not "institutional") fixtures, accessories and finishes.•
Toilet Partitions: Booth style (full height) of stone, tile or sealed wood with carved or applied molding details.
• Privacy Screens: Provide stone privacy panels at
men's urinals.
• Light Switch: Provide keyed switch.

Finishes:
• Floor: Stone; minimum of two colors.
• Base: Stone.
• Walls: At a minimum, stone vanity wall with other walls
in top quality vinyl wall covering (15 oz. minimum).
• Ceiling: Smooth painted gypsum board or plaster.
