Wind-Turbines Software
What size turbine would I need for my home?

Homes use approximately 9,400 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year (about 780 kWh per month). Depending upon the average wind speed in the area, a wind turbine rated in the range of 5 to 15 kilowatts would be required to make a significant contribution to meet this demand

GH WindFarmer: The Wind Farm Design Software
GH WindFarmer, the wind farm design software, is used by the world's major developers, consultancies, owners, operators and manufacturers for projects of all sizes and at locations both onshore and offshore. It combines all aspects of data processing, wind farm assessment and wind farm layout into one integrated easy-to-use program making fast and accurate calculations.

GH WindFarmer is technically advanced and powerful. It enables the user to automatically and efficiently optimise the wind farm layout for maximum energy yield, whilst meeting environmental, technical and construction

PROPID

(PROP Inverse Design) is aerodynamic design software developed by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. You can use it to design rotors. Use this link to visit their site.

WindTurbo

WindTurbo is a program for designing new wind turbines or analyzing existing ones. The software is based on one dimensional blade element momentum theory. This method can be carried out using a spreadsheet of lift and drag curves for the chosen aerofoil. The software allows designers to insert different aerofoils and setup initial angle of blades. WindTurbo enables manufacturers to test new wind turbine on the virtual environment and pick the best ones for further development. By this way is speed up and improved the design process

WindFarm 3D
WindFarm 3D for displaying 3D visualisations (a virtual World) of the landscape including turbines and other objects (forests, trees, hedges and external models)

Sophisticated algorithms optimise your wind farm for increased energy or reduced cost of energy, subject to environmental and physical constraints
Full noise modelling which can also be used as an optimisation constraint
Calculate the energy yield of your wind farm using an integrated wind flow module and advanced wake models
Option to calculate energy yields using multiple anemometers
Calculate long term wind speed predictions using the Measure-Correlate-Predict module
Use high powered flexible graphics capabilities, including bitmap handling and digitising from the screen
Create detailed zone of visual influence images including cumulative impact assessment from a number of wind farms using the ZVI module
Create planning quality photomontages with realistic turbine graphics including cumulative impact and animations

RETScreen

The RETScreen Clean Energy Project Analysis Software is a unique decision support tool developed with the contribution of numerous experts from government, industry, and academia. The software, provided free-of-charge, can be used worldwide to evaluate the energy production and savings, costs, emission reductions, financial viability and risk for various types of Renewable-energy and Energy-efficient Technologies (RETs). The software (available in multiple languages) also includes product, project, hydrology and climate databases, a detailed online user manual, and a case study based college/university-level training course, including an engineering e-textbook.

LM Blades - Integrated calculations
LM Blades supports the integrated calculation of aerodynamics, structure, loads and the control system, all in one single tool. This software suite performs much faster and provides a more precise calculation of everything from geometry to finite element analysis. The software optimises the blades in relation to the wind turbine as a whole.

Specially developed
In LM Blades, all information is collected in a single database, and the different calculation modules can communicate with each other. This translates into a consistent dataflow:

- greater precision and more refined calculations
- greater clarity (tracking the design process)
- faster calculations
