Makeup Water Valves
A pressure-reducing valve is normally provided on a hydronic
heating or cooling system to automatically fill the system with
domestic or city water to maintain a minimum system pressure.
This valve may be referred to as a fill valve, PRV fill valve,
or automatic PRV makeup water valve and is usually located at
or near the system expansion tank. Local plumbing codes may require
a backflow prevention device where the city water connects to
the building domestic water system
