Indoor Air Pollution Solutions
It may not be easy to identify the reason for an IAQ complaint
because of the number and variety of possible sources and
causes. IAQ problems are generally handled on a "trial
and error" basis, using the most logical approach first,
rather than attempting to determine the exact identity of
the contaminant. This approach can involve the examination
of building air intakes and ducts, looking at air distribution
systems, evaluating the amount of fresh air being supplied
to the space, checking for tobacco smoke, considering the
locations of office equipment, examining new conditions
such as the installation of carpets or furnishings, and
reviewing the use and storage of hazardous and odorous materials.
Parameters checked during an investigation will depend on
the specific complaint.
