Westin Hotel Fire
Forces Evacuation
12/23/2004
A fire at the sixth floor of the Westin Hotel sparked
a temporary evacuation in downtown Atlanta Thursday afternoon.
Several patrons and workers were forced out of the skyscraping
hotel, located along Peachtree Street, while firefighters
tended to a blaze that appeared to have started in a laundry
room.
Thick, heavy smoke that filled parts of the hotel also
helped flush people from parts of the building.
Fire officials did not report any injuries and there’s
been no official word on what started the fire.
