on Monday night after a fire broke out in a Nairobi

The delegates, who lost travel documents and other
valuable items, were not at Nibs Hotel in Kileleshwa.

The cause of the fire, which destroyed most of the
34 rooms, had not been established by yesterday.
Indonesian Tita Rubi said she and the visitors, mainly
from Indonesia and Vietnam, were at Kasarani Sports
Centre, one of the venues of the conference, when
a hotel worker called to inform them about the fire.

Officers from Kileleshwa police station went to hotel
to maintain security.
Mr Patrick Bhre, an Indonesian said: "We told
the management about problems to do with electricity."
He and the other delegates later recorded statements
at the police station.
