Heliopolis Sheraton Hotel Fire
On February 28, yet another hotel fire turned into tragedy:
A fire in the Heliopolis Sheraton Hotel in Cairo, Egypt,
left 17 dead and approximately 70 injured when an outdoor
tent next to the hotel was ignited by sparks from a clay
bread oven. The uncontrolled flames spread quickly to the
unsprinklered hotel.
Soon after the fire the hotel owners wanted to renovate
the areas that only had smoke damage, such as the banquet
area, the main kitchen, the conference areas and the night
club.
In 1994 the project for the complete building of this hotel
started and H.F Fire was selected to provide the complete
analog addressable system with overall voice evacuation
and emergency telephones. The system comprises of (Twenty
two) 22 loops with a total of one thousand and seven hundred
(1700) analog points. This system has a comprehensive 19
inch color graphics central command system with touch screen
capability.
The hotel is fully covered by a sprinkler system ,monitored
by the fire alarm panel that also interface with the building
management and elevators controls.
