FSTLD interactively works with
the designer to develop fire sprinkler systems
of the tree and loop types. It employs the
NFPA formulas and calculation
procedures to produce printouts. In the NFPA
"Manual 13" format, ready for
presentation to Underwriters for approval.
For each section you may specify the sprinkler
head "K" value; Hazen-Williams
"C" factor; elevation; and pipe
length. Additional hose flows may be included
at any point. Calculation of flows from each
head is automatic. "K" values
are constantly recalculated for the downstream
portion of the system and may
be re-used to eliminate detailed inputs for
similar branch lines. FSTLD also
derives the equivalent pipe length for simple
parallel pipe supply lines.
Included are data files for internal pipe
diameters, "C" factors, and
equivalent lengths of fittings.
For deluge systems, FSTLD can handle up
to 20 flowing lines, each with 20
pieces. There are windows, over 100 help screens
and error checks for range
and type. Data entry, editing, storage and
retrieval are fully prompted, with
defaults values supplied wherever possible.
Data is saved in named job files
for later recall and change.
Requires 448K RAM and an 80 column (or wider
printer).
