Hotel fire leaves

LOVELAND - A mid-morning hotel fire forced the evacuation
of a Best Western and left three people injured.
Loveland Fire Chief Mike Chard said the fire started
shortly after 10 a.m. while a crew of workers was
doing remodeling to the center part of the hotel.
He says the flammable liquid being used caught fire
and spread to the back area. While the fire was contained
quickly, heavy smoke spread through the hotel.
Upon arrival, 45 Loveland and Poudre Valley firefighters
found the hotel staff working together to notify all
of the residents. They say the evacuation was underway
as staff members had not only made phone calls but
also gone door to door to ensure the safety of the
guests.
Chief Chard says the building has significant smoke
damage and investigators are working on doing a more
detailed assessment.
Three workers were injured in the blaze, one being
transported to a local hospital and the other two
being treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
