9 October 2005-Firefighters remain at the site of a major
blaze on the Notts-Lincs border some 24 hours after it broke
out.
Station Manager Andy Bettison said he expected crews to
spend days damping down after 200 tonnes of shredded tyres
caught light.
At its height, some 13 engines were at the rubber recycling
plant in Newark.
That was reduced to one engine on Sunday morning at the
Charles Lawrence International site, on the Brunel Industrial
Estate.
The fire was seen up to six miles away on Saturday afternoon.
