Decorations
All decorative material on walls or ceilings must have a flame-spread
rating not greater than the requirement for the interior finish
of the space that they are located. During the Christmas festive
season many building occupants decorate their work areas.
Decorations such as paper chains and Christmas trees can be
a serious fire hazard.
Use only noncombustible or labeled flame-retardant decorations.
Christmas trees and decorations must be kept clear of exits
and paths of exit travel.
Use only decorative lighting that is approved by the Canadian
Standards Association.
Inspect decorative lighting prior to use.
When using decorative lighting on trees, it is preferred
to control the lights from a switch some distance from the
tree, and not plugged or unplugged into an outlet beneath
the tree.
